Ski area focus
The Alpe d'Huez ski area is spread over 10,000 hectares, ranges in altitude between 1135m and 3330m, and boasts more than 250km of trails - making it one of the largest ski areas in Europe. You'll have the chance to ski on more than 130 marked trails with breathtaking panoramas. The altitude guarantees snow cover during season, while 900 snow cannons make skiing back to the resort a pleasure. From experienced skier to beginner, Alpe d'Huez is designed to provide maximum impact. More experienced skiers can try their hand on the famous Black Sarenne trail, which is 10.6km long and 1800m wide - as well as enjoy the thrills of skiing on one of the other 16 black slopes. Beginners can enjoy the two protected areas of soft slopes to evolve skills at their own pace. Other facilities include a permanent 1200m toboggan run, night ski run, slalom stadium, boardercross course and many snowparks - as well as 50km of slopes for cross-country skiing enthusiasts.
In case you are not a passionate skier or just feel like adding some variety to your skiing holiday, the Alpe d'Huez resort is packed full of alternative activities. Speed riding, snowmobiling and paragliding are all available, as are dogsledding and ski joëring. If you're a guest at the resort, you can relax and unwind in the fitness center, play in the ice rink, visit cultural sites and ice caves or go snowshoeing in the surrounding area. The Alpe d'Huez is also a very lively resort, hosting many events throughout the season.
