In addition to its aesthetic qualities, Flaine is ideally located at the foot of the slopes and has privileged access to the Grand Massif ski area. Comfortable lodgings, quality shops and efficient services, Flaine is an ideal place to spend an unforgettable holiday. The Grand Massif ski area will be open from December to April.
Ski area focus
Linking the Flaine, Les Carroz d'Arrache, Samoens, Morillon and Sixt Fer à Cheval ski resorts, the Grand Massif ski area is one of the largest in France. In total, 144 marked trails twist and turn around the mountains for 265km. There are 17 blue, 60 green, 53 red and 14 black runs. The cumulative gradient is 1800m, letting you take full advantage of different viewpoints and exceptional sensations as you glide down the mountain. From the beginner to the expert, each skier can progress at his own pace while enjoying a superb panorama of Mont-Blanc. Cross-country skiing enthusiasts will not be disappointed as the highest and snowiest ski area in the Alps is easily accessible from Flaine. Perched on the pass of Pierre Carrée 1844m above sea level, this Nordic ski area has more than 5km of well-maintained and marked trails for walking and snowshoeing. There are also plenty of spaces dedicated to those wanting to practice new freestyle and freeride-style slides. And newcomers to the slopes can experiment with slaloms and the like in Ze Forest playground.
Flaine comes alive and becomes the backdrop for many events during the winter season, so even if you don't ski you'll have plenty to keep you busy. Test your limits and break out of your comfort zone, have fun and then relax and unwind in the calming mountain environment. Try snowmobiling, ice quads, and snowkiting, or get up in the air with a helicopter flight or paragliding session, you won't regret it. Not feeling quite so adventurous? Then why not try dog sledding, snowshoeing or relaxing in the huge wellness area of the resort, which stretches over 2000m²!
